Central African Greens Federation Established in Kishasa
The Central African Greens Federation (Federation des Ecologistes et Verts d'Afrique Centrale- FEVAC), was established during the Central African Greens Congress held in Kinshasa - Democratic Republic of Congo from 27th-29th November 2014.
The congress was hosted by the 'Parti Ecologiste Congolais-les Verts' under the leadership of Hon.Didace Pembe Bokiaga. It brought together greens from Congo-Brazzaville, Gabon, Chad and DRC.
It was officially opened by the Congolese Minister of Environment, Nature Conservation and Tourism, who also made a presentation on the problem of climate change and compensation by forests in the Congo-Basin.
Other high ranking officials and members of the academia also addressed the congress and discussed election challenges, pollution, recycling and issues concerning environmental and social impact assessments on modern development.
The Congress adopted the regional federation's status and its internal rules and regulation. The headquarters will be based in Kinshasa.
The congress also elected the following officials:
- President: Hon.Didace Pembe Bokiaga from DRC
- Vice President: Mr.Badono Daigou from Chad
- Secretary General: Mr.Hamissou Mamadou Yaro from Gabon
- Treasurer: Mr.Younous Madzenge from Congo-Brazaville
The two posts of commissioner of accounts were reserved for Chad and Gabon. The African Greens Federation was also received by DRC’s Prime Minister, who retaliated his support to the growth of Green Movement in Africa.
