"Arctic Sanctuary: Images of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge"
"Evening Morning Foothills" by photographer Jeff Jones, on view as part of "Arctic Sanctuary: Images of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge" at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich.
Forget about roads, lights or street signs.
That's what Jeff Jones came to accept after setting foot in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a 19 million-acre swath of majestic, untamed wilderness in northeastern Alaska."When you get there, you have to figure out where you're going," said Jones, who first visited ANWR in 1990 and has been back more than a dozen times since. "You have to negotiate the terrain on your own. You have to think like an animal, put all your senses to work."
