FF plays down O'Dea criticism of 'corrosive' Green Party
Fianna Fáil is today playing down comments made by Willie O'Dea after the former Defence Minister launched a scathing attack on coalition partners the Green Party.
In a television interview last night, Willie O'Dea described the behaviour of the junior coalition partners as "corrosive" to Government.
The Limerick TD was forced to step down as Defence Minister in February after a controversy surrounding the contents of an affidavit he made to the High Court in 2009.
He criticised the Green party for behaving 'very, very shabbily', but Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin South Central Michael Mulcahy has insisted that his party's relationship with the Green Party has never been better.
“I think his comments were slightly, shall we say, sideways,” said Mulcahy.
“I think the Greens have been great partners in Government, and have been very loyal, very hard working.”
